Throughout February, ������Ƶ College honors the significant contributions of Black Americans to history, culture, and society. This year, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) is hosting engaging events that highlight the impact of Black leaders, artists, and movements.

������Ƶians celebrated Black History Month as “Unapologetically Black Month,” highlighting the strength of community as Black students came into joy and celebration with each other.

������Ƶ College is pleased to host Deidre DeJear for a virtual event on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Recognizing that there is value in even our most challenging circumstances, Deidre DeJear will deliver a message on how to harness the power of 2020 to deliver triumphant victories.

Acclaimed short story masters Danielle V. Evans and Laura van den Berg share work from their new collections, followed by a conversation on the craft of short fiction with Dean Bakopoulos.

Authors and activists Reginald Dwayne Betts and Kiese Makeba Laymon discuss their newest works and discuss the intersection between creativity and justice. Moderated by Dean Bakopoulos.

Join internationally renowned poet and performance artist, jessica Care moore, Writers@������Ƶ, Virtual Artist-in-Residence 2020-21, for a reading from her work and discussion. Moderated by Professor Lakesia Johnson.
